This high cost of participation disproportionately impacts young people and those without established networks, limiting their influence and representation. Campaign financing remains one of the most significant obstacles to political participation, as costs often exceed legally mandated spending limits.

On how to address the imbalance of political power in Mexico, the author adds that « political parties must open spaces for young people to register and participate in party politics as well as provide training and resources for them ». Without such efforts, Mexico’s political system risks remaining largely inaccessible.
