Alejandra<\/strong> is a driven young diplomat, feminist advocate, and political advisor with a passion for gender equality and education. With a diverse educational background including degrees in French, Diplomacy, and ongoing law studies, she has spent the past decade as a dedicated social activist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting her activism within the Student Movement of the University of Costa Rica, she went on to found Acci\u00f3n Respeto<\/strong>, an organisation focused on combatting sexual street harassment and advocating for inclusive public policies. Her professional experience includes roles as an advisor in political affairs, serving in the creation of indigenous consultation mechanisms and advocating for LGTBIQ rights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alejandra has also worked extensively on preventing sexual gender-based violence with migrant and refugee women and has served as a legislative advisor, contributing to initiatives on human rights, security, and higher education. She is an alumna of various prestigious programmes focused on social change and youth leadership and is currently involved in networks such as Global Shapers and Manifestate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is crucial to promote civic education in schools by incorporating practical, hands-on activities that teach students about their rights, responsibilities, and the importance of active citizenship\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The WYDE Civic Engagement<\/strong> Network of Young Decision-Makers<\/a><\/strong> unites young leaders under 36 years old who are active in politics and decision-making roles, aiming to enhance youth political participation. Members, hailing from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean, will collaborate with peers and Club de Madrid Members to shape global agendas through Policy Labs, fostering informed collective action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WYDE Civic Engagement project <\/strong>is a component of the Women and Youth in Democracy Initiative (WYDE) by the European Commission.
