Nyanjura Doreen is the Deputy Lord Mayor of Kampala Capital City, serving her second term as Deputy Lord Mayor and as the elected Local Council 5 (LCV) Woman Councilor, representing Makerere University at Kampala Capital City Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, she serves as the Executive member of the second biggest Opposition Political Party in Uganda (The Forum for Democratic Change-FDC), responsible for trade, investment, and the economy. She is an author, a feminist scholar at Makerere University, and an activist for women, youth, and people with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since over ten years ago, she has been fighting for political and social change in Uganda. As a result of her activism against bad governance, she has been arrested over 25 times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s stand up and put right what’s wrong by being part of the decision-makers who can influence the desired change and positive governance in Africa. The WYDE Civic Engagement<\/strong> Network of Young Decision-Makers<\/a><\/strong> unites young leaders under 36 years old who are active in politics and decision-making roles, aiming to enhance youth political participation. Members, hailing from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean, will collaborate with peers and Club de Madrid Members to shape global agendas through Policy Labs, fostering informed collective action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WYDE Civic Engagement project <\/strong>is a component of the Women and Youth in Democracy Initiative (WYDE) by the European Commission. The project aims to empower youth voices, foster international cooperation, and address the gaps in evidence on youth political engagement. <\/strong>More info on the project can be found on EPD’s website<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n
