
The aim of this advocacy project is to encourage the Burkinabe authorities to integrate Information and Media Literacy (IML) into training curricula in order to counter disinformation and hate speech on social networks.
Activities

Two multi-stakeholder workshops to map stakeholders in IML and the fight against disinformation and hate speech, as well as to appropriate the final recommendations and set up the advocacy team.

Drafting of an advocacy document based on MIL stakeholders’ recommendations.

Organisation of advocacy meetings with authorities to obtain their support and encourage concrete commitments.
Expected outcomes

Effective enforcement of the law on offences committed on social networks

Strengthening collaboration between CSOs active in the digital field and Burkina Faso’s education authorities.

Founded in 2011, the Association des Blogueurs du Burkina (ABB) is a national non-profit, apolitical, non-governmental association focused on the promotion of ICTs, citizen and community use of ICTs, and the promotion of science and culture. ABB is a reference in terms of social networking and blogging in Burkina Faso, whose mission is to contribute to the democratisation of digital and to the use of new information and communication technologies by citizens through blogging for better democratic expression. It participates in citizen actions to promote democracy through ICT.
