Why join the YDC?
The inclusion of Youth in politics is more than an issue of representation. Informed, capable and engaged young people can develop innovative solutions to address the modern challenges that democracies face. However, advancing the participation of young people demands that governments and civil society work together. Join the Youth Democracy Cohort, a multi-stakeholder platform to connect, learn and advocate for greater Youth political rights!
1 – Connect
Find opportunities: monthly digest summarising the activities of the YDC, ongoing campaigns from members, funding opportunities and more.
Engage potential allies and changemakers: join a network of national ministries, youth councils, NGOs, and community-based organisations, and connect with policymakers and activists.
Showcase your work: share a specific issue, policy development or successful initiative from your organisation to raise awareness with potential allies.
2. Learn
Knowledge Sharing programme: monthly webinars organised on a wide variety of topics from shrinking civic space to inclusion, facilitated by members of the YDC with interactive exercises.
Research: case studies on successful national policies and approaches to youth engagement, and a Global Index on Youth Political Participation.
Expertise: meet young researchers working in your interest fields and contribute to the growing academic community of Youth Political Participation.
3. Advocate
Become a YDC ambassador: represent the YDC at regional, national and global events to advocate for youth political participation.
Advocacy resources: find inspiration in our Youth Democracy Map, use concrete recommendations from our Menu of Commitments and make use of the communication toolkit.
Funding your advocacy: the YDC supports 9 organisations to raise awareness about youth political rights in their countries. Stay tuned for future opportunities!
Policy impact: join efforts to advance political reforms through legislative processes and institutional practices at the national and international levels.
