๐ DemoWave, the Youth (un)Conference

This is not a traditional conference.
It is a space to connect, experiment and co-create.

Across the world, young people are organising, mobilising and speaking up, often outside traditional political spaces that feel distant or closed to them. At the same time, evidence from the Global Youth Participation Index (GYPI) shows that barriers to representation and meaningful participation remain widespread.
#DemoWave, the Youth (un)Conference, brings together the people working to change that.
For one day in Brussels, young activists, researchers, policymakers, artists and civil society organisations will gather to exchange ideas, share experiences and explore how youth participation and digital activism can shape the future of democracy.
Line Up
Through interactive discussions, participant-driven sessions, artistic performances and networking moments, #DemoWave creates room for honest conversations and new collaborations across regions and sectors.

WYDE Civic Engagement is part of a wider programme (*WYDE) funded by the European Union that seeks to empower and strengthen the rights, and participation in public and political life of women and youth as key actors of development and change. The initiative promotes political pluralism and the inclusiveness of democratic processes.
WYDE Freedoms captures six new thematic Financial Framework Partnerships between the European Commission and key actors at global or regional levels under the umbrella of its Women and Youth in Democracy initiative (*WYDE), which seeks to empower and strengthen the rights, and participation in public and political life, of youth and women as key actors of development and change. The partnerships specifically aim to promote the safe and legal exercise of the freedoms of peaceful assembly and association, as fundamental rights, foundations of civic space and vital elements of democracy.
*WYDE : Women and Youth in Democratic Engagement
The Digitalise Youth project, powered by the Digital Democracy Initiative, aims to address the shrinking civic space and rampant disinformation in the Sahel and neighbouring regions by empowering local youth activists and civil society organisations. It focuses on enhancing digital skills, promoting civic tech solutions, and raising awareness about online political engagement.
