
Background
Network For Research & Governance is a registered organisation which is youth led, and based in Kakamega County of Kenya. The organisation was established in April 2018, due to high public demand by kakamega residents and Kenyans at large to understand the county budget cycle, Influence public policies through meaningful involvement, to realise efficient service delivery and have responsive County governments. Our main niche and focus in Kenya is strengthening capacities of organised groups, faith based organisations, women groups, people living with disabilities, community based organisations and youth groups on budget advocacy.

Impact
- Trained over 50 groups, champions and organisations on budget analysis and public finance management cycle in Kakamega, Vihiga and Busia Counties From 2018 to date.
- Conducted social audits in two health facilities to assess service delivery; Lurambi Sub -county, Elwesero level 4 hospital and Nabongo health centre.
- Conducted budget transparency survey for Kakamega and Vihiga Counties 2020 and 2023, to check on comprehensiveness in collaboration with International Budget Partnership.
- Influenced draft public participation policy of Kakamega County through incorporation of our inputs in collaboration with CSO which has been operationalised.
- Conducted tree planting exercises in Navakholo for two public schools in addressing climate change effects.
- Jointly developed policy brief on teenage pregnancy for Kakamega County with Youth Alive Kenya, supported by Amref health Africa in 2020.
