The WYDE Civic Engagement Youth Advisory Board is the highest youth engagement body in the project. Its members are young beneficiaries from our activities, recruited for a one-year mandate to advise the management team, take part in the steering committees with the European Commission and occasionally represent the project in external events.
Dechen Rabgyal is invested and interested in social and political sciences, and serves as a member of the Youth Advisory Board of the WYDE Civic Engagement project in 2024/2025. With countryside roots, formal education including stints in Spain and the United Kingdom opened Dechen’s door to understanding public affairs beyond his native village of 11 households. Rural upbringing vis-à-vis educational and professional experiences place Dechen in a position to situate Bhutan’s public policy challenges such as rural-urban migration, regional inequality, and inter-generational value differences in Bhutan’s development trajectory. He publishes his writing about Bhutan’s public affairs and his lived experiences on his personal website, www.dechenrabgyal.com.
The Youth Advisory Board is the main component of the youth engagement strategy of the project, ensuring that young people have a say in the implementation of the project.
