ABSTRACT

The PDAFJED-JEUNES project is an initiative launched by the organisation Regroupement Panafricain des Associations des Étudiants au Cameroun (RAEC) to promote access to information and youth involvement in democracy. Its aim is to strengthen young people’s civic participation and empower them to make informed decisions on issues that concern them within African territories through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The RAEC organisation was created in 2019 and legalised in 2021 to promote participatory democracy and active citizenship in order to reduce social inequalities and diverse stereotypes. RAEC found that young people were often excluded from decision-making processes and had limited access to information. This is why the PDAFJED-JEUNES initiative was set up in response to these challenges.
Currently being implemented as part of the WYDE (Women and Youth in Democratic Engagement) program, the PDAFJED-JEUNES project is also an online platform providing information on political and social issues of concern to young people. The project also offers training workshops and events such as the Salon International de la Démocratie and the International Day of Democracy sports walk, to encourage young people to get involved in political and social life.
The platform includes :
- Training workshops on active citizenship and political participation: an e-learning space
- A database of resources and documents on political and social issues
- A discussion forum for young people to share their opinions and ideas
SUCCESS FACTORS

Training workshops and personalised support to help young people develop their skills and build their self-confidence.
